| Brehm Wins 94th Michigan Women’s Amateur |
ST. CLAIR -- It was an all green and white final at the 94th Michigan Women’s Amateur at St. Clair River Country Club Friday afternoon. Incoming Michigan State University freshman Christine Meier (Rochester Hills) was pitted against her senior teammate Natalie Brehm (Mount Pleasant). It was Brehm who hoisted the championship trophy after defeating Meier 4&3.
Brehm was the 2009 runner-up and was driven to win this year.

The best junior golfers in the state will tee off at the historic Dearborn Country Club Aug. 9-12 for the 32nd Michigan Junior State Amateur. The tournament is a combination of stroke play and match play.
2009’s Mr. Golf Joey Garber (Petoskey) will be in the field of competitors. Garber was voted Mr. Golf by the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association. Many players from the 2009 All-State high school team are in the championship field as well including Jared Dalga (Grand Rapids), Chris Cunningham (Milford), Trevor Grigg (Novi), Blaze Hogan (Big Rapids), Tyler Jones (Charlevoix), Zach Mick (Shelby Twp.), Jon Christ (Kalamazoo) and Pat Colburn (Traverse City). Stroke play and match play alike should be very competitive.
